Revelation eight (8), explained verse by verse, shows what is behind the first four of the seven trumpets. The trumpets show a similar history to the churches and the seals. Starting with a picture of Jesus Christ as Intercessor or Mediator, the trumpets cover chapters 8-11. Study RevelationWithDaniel. It’s amazing!
I am enjoying listening to part B at the moment discussing the fire and it brig to my mind the unholy fire that Nadab and Abihu offered. This unholy fire was a fire of their own kindling which is what Rome was doing in establishing their false doctrines.
Truth!
There are nine times the word “wormwood” is used in the Bible. Once it is translated “hemlock.” Notice how each of these words are used in the verses in their respective context:
1. Deuteronomy 29:18 Lest there should be among you man, or woman, or family, or tribe, whose heart turneth away this day from the LORD our God, to go and serve the gods of these nations; lest there should be among you a root that beareth gall and WORMWOOD;
Here it’s a root that bears the gall and wormwood (Hebrews 12:15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any ROOT of BITTERNESS springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled…)
2. Proverbs 5:4 But her end is bitter as WORMWOOD, sharp as a twoedged sword.
It’s bitter, cutting to the diving asunder.
3. Jeremiah 9:15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will feed them, even this people, with WORMWOOD, and give them water of gall to drink.
Read the previous verses to see that it’s punishable enough to feed them with wormwood.
4. Jeremiah 23:15 Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts concerning the prophets; Behold, I will feed them with WORMWOOD, and make them drink the water of gall: for from the prophets of Jerusalem is profaneness gone forth into all the land.
The verse describes why…
5. Lamentations 3:15 He hath filled me with bitterness, he hath made me drunken with WORMWOOD.
Because of the destruction of Jerusalem, a place which should have stood for the truth.
6. Lamentations 3:19 Remembering mine affliction and my misery, the WORMWOOD and the gall.
The first part of the sentence describes the latter part.
7. Amos 5:7 Ye who turn judgment to WORMWOOD, and leave off righteousness in the earth,
Explained within the verse.
8. Amos 6:12 Shall horses run upon the rock? will one plow there with oxen? for ye have turned judgment into gall, and the fruit of righteousness into hemlock:
Hemlock is wormwood, same word. The verse describes why wormwood is referred to.
9. Revelation 8:11 And the name of the star is called WORMWOOD: and the third part of the waters became WORMWOOD; and many men died of the waters, because they were made bitter.
The entrance of false doctrine through the Catholic system caused wormwood all over the earth: false doctrine, commandment breaking, persecution, blasphemy, you name it… Wormwood.
